About the role
The Senior Consultant serves as a functional and technical specialist for FIS IBS core banking implementations. The role leads data conversion, configuration, and system customization activities; defines client requirements; develops conversion specifications and data mappings; and ensures accurate, high quality transformation of client data into FIS systems. This position provides senior level advisory support, drives testing and validation cycles, resolves issues, and guides both clients and junior team members through successful conversion and go live.
What you'll be doing
Requirements & Client Definition
• Lead discovery sessions to document products, services, workflows, and reporting needs.
• Defining required IBS configurations and customizations to meet client business requirements.
• Identify operational or data related risks early in the implementation process.
Data Mapping & Conversion Design
• Analyze client data for structure, quality, and readiness.
• Create detailed data mapping and workflow specifications.
• Collaborate with programming and QA teams to refine and validate mappings.
Conversion Development & Testing
• Translate requirements into conversion logic and support development as needed.
• Test and troubleshoot conversion programs, addressing exceptions and root cause issues.
• Support validation of software customizations where required.
Validation, Balancing & Quality Assurance
• Execute test cycles using sample and full datasets.
• Validate conversion output through reports, reconciliations, and GL balancing.
• Present results to clients and obtain sign off.
Readiness Reviews & UAT Support
• Lead readiness assessments covering configuration, reports, training, and procedures.
• Support client execution of UAT and functional validation scenarios.
• Confirm end to end readiness for production cutover.
System Configuration & Customization
• Configure IBS screens, fields, tables, product sets, and reports using authoring tools.
• Document operational processes and optimized workflows.
• Provide best practice recommendations for system usage.
Go Live & Post Conversion Support
• Serve as a primary resource during conversion and go live.
• Resolve issues, support data adjustments, and ensure system stabilization.
• Complete post conversion validation and obtain client acceptance.
Client Communication & Training
• Deliver client and internal training sessions.
• Provide clear guidance on risks, impacts, and solution options.
• Offer subject matter expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
• Mentor junior team members and provide quality oversight.
• Recommend process or technical improvements to enhance conversion delivery.
• Contribute to special projects and solution estimation.
• What you bring:
Technical & Functional Expertise
• 5–9+ years of experience with core banking implementations, preferably FIS IBS.
• Strong background in data conversion, mapping, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with deposits, loans, GL, CIF, statements, fees, and reporting.
• Ability to understand and support conversion programming requirements.
Conversion & Testing Skills
• Hands on experience with mock cycles, balancing, reconciliation, and exception analysis.
• Proven ability to validate prior system to IBS balancing, including GL alignment.
Configuration & Customization
• Experience customizing core banking modules via authoring/configuration tools.
Consulting & Delivery Skills
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Experience leading client workshops, training, and go live activities.
• Ability to mentor junior staff.
Industry Knowledge
• Solid understanding of banking operations, compliance, and GL principles.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or related field
